What is Reiki?
The word Reiki (pronounced RAY-key) comes from two Japanese words, Rei (Universal intelligence or spiritually guided) and Ki (life force energy).
Reiki is a gentle, non-intrusive hands-on healing technique which uses “guided life force energy” to aid the body in releasing stress and tension by creating deep relaxation, thereby promoting healing and health. It is a holistic system for balancing, healing and harmonizing all aspects of the person—body, mind, emotions and spirit. It can also be used to encourage personal and spiritual awareness and growth.
Many ancient cultures have believed for centuries that there is a life force energy that flows through our bodies and affects us–physically and emotionally. Recent scientific studies have proven that energy fields do exist, not only in and around our physical bodies, but in all matter, even inanimate objects such as rocks. If our life force energy is out of balance, we are more likely to experience dis-ease, such as stress, depression, illness (chronic and acute), and emotional or mental imbalances.
Reiki is an effective complement to, and can be used in conjunction with, alternative modalities (such as acupuncture, chiropractic work, etc.) as well as traditional medicine. NOTE: REIKI is not a substitute for medical or psychological diagnosis and treatment. Always consult your health care professional.
