Reiki for Animals

Reiki for Animals

Reiki can help all animals—domestic and wild—in countless ways. For healthy animals, it can help maintain health on all levels (physical, mental, emotional, spiritual). Reiki can greatly benefit an animal that has been traumatized through an accident or injury, neglect, abuse, trust issues, etc. Pain and stress affect animals deeply and can add to or create behavioral problems; Reiki can help ease that pain and stress, thereby helping the animal enjoy a better life. It can also be used to help with issues

A few areas where Reiki energy is beneficial to animals are:

  • Accelerating healing after surgery or an illness
  • Arthritis and joint problems
  • New environment and/or change of owner
  • Behavioral problems
  • Compromised immune systems
  • Grief (yes, animals also experience grief!)
  • Stress
  • Disease, illness, injuries, skin conditions
  • Trauma (mental, emotional and physical)
  • Peaceful passing at the end of the physical life

The benefits of Reiki for animals are the same whether the treatment is given in a hands-on session or a distance session. Since animals are more comfortable in their own “space,” I always do “in-person” animal treatments in their own “home,” whether that’s a home, a barn, a pasture, etc. I always spend a few minutes introducing myself to the animal prior to starting a Reiki session. Animals are very sensitive to the energy of Reiki, therefore some animals like to have my hands placed directly on them during the treatment, others prefer to stand at a distance to receive the treatment.

Reiki is an effective complement to, and can be used in conjunction with, alternative modalities (such as acupuncture, chiropractic work, etc.) as well as traditional veterinary medicine. NOTE: REIKI is not a substitute for veterinary diagnosis and treatment. Always consult your pet’s health care professional.
